Our Programs & Classes

Students and enthusiasts of Kenpo have many reasons for their interest in this and other martial art styles. Some are drawn to the physical fitness and weight-loss aspects of training. Others seek to add discipline and self control to their lives. While still others are concerned about safety and self-defense. The group and private classes can meet your needs.

Whether you are interested in programs for mental or physical well being, Kenpo Karate Dojo offers a number of programs that will fit your developmental needs and your busy schedule as well. Click here to view our Weekly Class Schedule.

Also, you will find different information about the martial arts involved in what we teach. Kenpo Taijutsu is a Kenpo based martial art made up of Ed Parker Kenpo and the original Kenpo SGM Parker brought when he first started teaching on the mainland. Thank You

Kenpo Taijutsu
Kenpo Taijutsu
Kenpo Taijutsu will give you the tools to develop self confidence and self control. This is accomplished through a proven system of self defense training. Students develop the ability to protect themselves, their family, and friends. The student gains self discipline, increased attention span, and a new level of physical fitness. As coordination, flexibility, and self defense skills increase the students become confident and extremely skilled.

Kenpo Taijutsu!

What is Kenpo Taijutsu? It is a blend of 4 Martial Arts - Kenpo, Budo Taijusu, Kuk Sool Won, and Judo.

Kenpo is still the base of the art, this means that Kenpo Karate is still the primary focus of this style and we teach the Eastern Kenpo Karate Societies system of Ed Parkers American Kenpo as taught by 8th degree Black Belt Master Brint Berry and TRACO system techniques, and as Kenpo should be, it continues to evolve. Joint locking and breaking technique have been added for controlling purposes and we have added ground training, arm bars, and choking technique from Judo. The purpose of this is to solidify the student knowledge base. Occasionally, the fight ends up on the ground and its important to be able to defend from this area also. Students are encouraged to add extensions to the techniques and work closely with each other and the instuctor. This type of training gives the student a real working knowledge of the self defense technique and helps them to develop proper distancing, timing, energy transference, balance interuptions, and entrapments. However, control is still very important and encouraged.

I left the other programs on the site to further explain what it is we do. However, what we teach on Monday and Wednesday is Kenpo Taijutsu. Judo is still taught on Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, Friday, and Sunday.

"When I am gone, I hope that people won't try to traditionalize my Art. I want you to always remember that Kenpo will always be the Art of Perpetual Change. If you remember this, then the Art will never become obsolete because it will change with the times." GRANDMASTER ED PARKER

The evolution has begun!

Kenpo
American Kenpo Karate is a combat based martial art. Students learn techniques based on real situations and how to defend against them. They also learn kata or forms teaching the student how to blend their there techniques and remain fluid and powerful.Kenpo is one of the most innovative, flexible systems in the martial arts. This can best be explained by Master Ed Parker's description, "Kenpo's economy of motion....". To understand the terms "continuity" and "economy of motion" more thoroughly let's analyse the elements involved. They are the same as learning to write. In the mechanics of learning to speak a language, you must learn the alphabet, lexicon and syntax of that language. You combine the alphabet symbols to create words, making phonetic groups essential for understanding. Sounds have been fused with the written symbols. A clearly understood conversation results. This is the same principal used in Kenpo.

Both straight and circular moves are used. This combination avoids the hesitations in stop start, this is the principle used in the techniques of Kenpo. It all flows along, continuously, and speed is enhanced. A good martial arts system combines the best of both elements found in writing. It is both linear and circular - printing and script. This approach affords continuity and economy of motion in effective fighting in a martial arts system. Individuality becomes apparent. Each student basically learns identical procedures, yet each develops their own style. So it is with martial arts. The same basics, principles and concepts are taught, but the difference is apparent in the application rendered by each individual student. Kenpo is an all inclusive art combining traditional and modern movements. Kenpo is a self defence system not a sport martial art. We can be reached by dialing 281-898-8614
